Thanks Bo!

I’m a great fan of Deezer. I can listen to whatever music I want at anytime without breaking any laws. I love remembering names from the past and typing them in to see what comes up. Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of Bobbie Gentry. Do you remember her? Pretty, slim with lots of black eye makeup and long back-combed hair. She takes me back to the late 60s, early 70s, her show was on TV every week, I watched religiously with my mum and sisters.

At school, our geography teacher couldn’t understand why, for the first time ever, the entire class could spell Mississippi. My best friend and I who were the eldest in our families dreamt of Bobbie as an ideal older sister. Where did Bobbie go? That is a mystery equal to that of the object thrown from the Tallahatchie Bridge…

If you read the Wikapedia entry for Bobbie Gentry, take a moment to move to the discussion page.

I’ve chosen a video of her singing Fancy. A reminder of how the role of women has changed in the last 40 years.

Donna: happy memories - it's sad she doesn't still sing.

Yes,a lot has change since then. Women fight for better lives, better wages but Here in BC we still have women fighting for their rights to stay in this old profession of self abuse. I see it as abusing the self but they like it, as do the drug addicts who want rights to keep their addictions no matter who they hurt as a result of keeping them. We think we help people by giving them opportunities to grow into better people but some just don't want this help. They like the streets, the homelessness,to be truly free, off the government screen, pay no taxes,no insurances,no electric bills. One old street woman died and she had a million dollars stashed away. Now why was she living on the street?
Another person was arrested for something and the authorities found a bag of money, the persons life savings, and took it away saying he probably got it illegally because it wasn't in the bank. The person worked hard collecting bottles to recycle etc... and they took it away, just like that. Now isn't that theft since they can't prove where the money came from and where is it written in law you have to put your money in the bank? Sadness everywhere.
