Keep your heart clean

This isn’t about health. This is about one of the young men who spent 6 years in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp; I only picked up the end of the radio program about him. He now lives in Saudi Arabia and has recently married. The journalist asked him why he still wore American style clothes after all that had happened to him. The young man explained that he did not hold a grudge against his captors. He explained that it is important to keep your heart clean. I understood exactly what he meant. It’s important not to wallow in the negative aspects of the past. Look forward to the future with hope.

A lesson for us all.

I don't know if I could be that forgiving...but if he can do it then he has my total admiration.

Hi again anji - I doubt if I could be so forgiving either, he must be some 'cool' young man. I know within myself that it would be the right thing to do, but actually believing and doing it Wow... How forgiving and un-selfish is that ..

Hi Anji

This young guys attitude is so refreshing & so true.

His attitude makes me feel very humble as I have found it all to easy to be guilty of living in the past, until recently.

I am not sure if I could be that forgiving.

Experiencing something of the magnitude he has gone through certainly makes you value the time you have left & how important it is to make good use of it.

love

I was a bit shocked to swing by yesterday and find not one but two entries I had missed!

I love his words about keeping your "heart clean"! I also try to keep mine open...

Thank you for this!

I've been so neglectful of late, I'm sorry everyone.

Henry: A lesson to be learnt...

Kate: Fortunately there are people like that.

Debbie: I never cease to be amazed by the strength of some people.

Alan: "Keep you heart clean" is a very simple way to say a lot!
