I discovered this band thanks to Facebook. They are from Belarus and adapt rock songs in an amazing way. They perform traditional Belarusian music too. The man with the voice is Zmicier Sasnoŭski who founded the band in 1999. This is an adaptation of Deep Purple's 'Child in Time'.

A bit different from the live version I saw as a teenager! Then again I also loved the folk rock of the 70's
Coline: Did you really see Deep Purple live? They were on French TV a couple of years ago and performed Child in Time, but I was really disappointed with it. This version by Stary Olsa was a very pleasant surprise.
Yes Anji, I saw them in their prime, probably when I was in mine as a teenager student, they certainly did not disappoint.
I tried quite a few of Stara covers and like much of what they had done, am sending a link to my gardening assistant who is now a music student in London specialising in "recorder!" Some of this got me thinking about Pentangle, the old ones are still the best.
Pentangle! I remember the name, will have to look them up. Thanks to YouTube it's easy to listen to obscure bands from the past. Last year I started to learn how to play the tin whistle, M-I-L had a stroke and I lost the habit with all that has gone on since. I am going to start again - one day.
