You can count on Shakespeare

I enjoyed this quote today from Daily Literary Quote:

“Beauty is all very well at first sight; but whoever looks at it when it has been in the house three days?”

...which reminds me of a something that Thomas Love Peacock wrote:

"Allow me," said Mr Gall. "I distinguish the picturesque and the beautiful, and I add to them, in the laying out of grounds, a third and distinct character, which I call unexpectedness." "Pray, sir," said Mr. Milestone, "by what name do you distinguish this character when a person walks around the grounds for the second time?" "Mr. Gall bit his lips, and inwardly vowed to revenge himself on Milestone, by cutting up his next publication.
Thomas Love Peacock. Headlong Hall (1815)

This quote may be the definition of the current morality. Therefore it sounds so painfully, because I was used to look for the eternal values in the paintings. Unfortunately, according modern world's understanding, three days make clear the cost of what is the timeless.

Dru: I like that one. The Shakespeare quote makes me think of 'After three days fish and guests stink'

Tomas: Thats a good point you're making there. We absorb everything too quickly nowadays.

Baron; Indeed.
